Application Process

We are here to help you throughout the application process.  For help with school selection, the personal statement, letters of recommendation, or interviews, see our “Apply” tab.

Application Timeline

Below is a rough timeline for preparing your application.  Many chiropractic schools offer rolling admission, meaning they accept applications year-round. You will want to pay attention to the specific requirements of each program as you prepare to apply.

One year-6 months before you apply

Research Schools

There are currently 18 accredited chiropractic colleges in the United States. The Association of Chiropractic Colleges maintains a list of all of the Chiropractic Medicine programs in the US. For a list of schools, visit the Association of Chiropractic Colleges.

For tips on choosing schools, visit our Selecting Schools page.

Make a list of your activities outside of class

  • hours, dates, locations, contacts
  • what your role was, what you learned

Identify possible letter writers.

6-3 months before you apply

Study for the GRE

Most programs do not require the GRE, but if your programs do, then plan to take it 2-3 months prior to submission. To hear how other students have prepared, visit our exam tips page.

Write personal statement

For tips on writing your application essay, check out our Personal Statements page.

Request letters of recommendation

Some, but not all, chiropractic schools require letters of recommendation.  Please check with individual schools.  We usually recommend 1 letter from a science faculty, 1 letter from a Chiropractor, and 1 non-academic letter (e.g., an employer or a volunteer coordinator).  For tips on how to build relationships with faculty, visit our Letters of Recommendation page.

At the time of application

Complete the centralized application

16 of 18 programs use ChiroCas. But according to a representative from ChiroCAS, students are discouraged from using the CAS system and apply directly to each program. Contact each program directly to determine how to apply. ChiroCAS costs $125 for the first program and $45 for each additional program.

The centralized application includes:

Interview

Many programs invite finalists to interview.  For help preparing for interviews, visit our Interview Preparation page.
